My last blog post, “3 Healthy Smoothie Recipes”, received a lot of positive feedback from readers (if you haven’t gotten a chance to check it out, click here). However, I did receive requests for weight loss drink/smoothie recipes that are a little more simple. These requests are understandable, and I admit that smoothies can get a little complicated and expensive depending on the ingredients that they are made of.
Now believe me, in no way am I “bashing” smoothies. I drink a green smoothie at least once a day and I wouldn’t have created a blog post about them if I didn’t believe they were greatly useful. But there are multiple ways to supplement a healthy lifestyle, and today I would like to provide you with a few other quick and easy weight loss drinks.
The drinks listed below are quick, cheap, practical, and can be implemented into your daily routine right away.
Before we get into our list, I would like to explain that there are no “magic” foods, pills, or supplements that will shed pounds of fat off of your body in days. Anyone making these claims is just trying to steal your money. Unfortunately, we see a lot of these claims nowadays. Staying consistent with your nutrition and exercise, while using these tips as a “supplement” to your lifestyle, is the best way to see the quickest improvement.
Now that I got that out of the way, here are 4 quick and easy drinks that you can add to your diet today that will help you stay healthy and lose weight:
Green Tea
Green Tea is packed with antioxidants and nutrients that have amazing effects on your body. These antioxidants and nutrients are great for your immune system, and studies have shown that they can help fight cancer. Green tea has also been shown to boost your metabolic rate, increase fat burning, and some studies have even shown that is effective in decreasing abdominal fat.

Black Coffee
A lot of people do not realize that coffee has a lot of health benefits. Similar to Green Tea, Coffee is loaded with antioxidants. So many people drink coffee (and lots of it) that they get most of their daily antioxidants from it. There are many fat loss supplements out there, and one of the most common ingredients in them is caffeine. Caffeine is the universal fat burning supplement because it has actually been scientifically proven to burn fat and help you lose weight. Studies show that caffeine boosts your metabolic rate and increases the burning of fat.
A few side notes about Green Tea and Coffee: Green tea and Coffee are the first two drinks on my list because of how beneficial they can be for you. However, there are some things that need to be addressed before you decide to include them in your diet. First, there are few people that I know who drink coffee black with nothing in it. Most people today fill their coffees with sugar and cream, or buy coffees made for them with hundreds or thousands of calories added. Be careful not to add loads of sugar and cream to your Coffee and/or Green Tea because the negative will start to outweigh the positive on your body. The second thing I would like to quickly address is caffeine. While caffeine has many benefits to your health, this is only true when caffeine is used in moderation and intelligently. Too much of anything can lead to issues, and caffeine is definitely an example of this. People who are highly stressed and /or have adrenal fatigue should limit or eliminate caffeine from their diets entirely. I have had major problems with Adrenal Fatigue (read more about my journey here) so I have chosen to leave coffee and green tea out of my diet.
Lemon (or Lime) Water
Water with Lemon or Lime added can be a great supplement to your diet. No studies have actually correlated Lemon water to weight loss, but I am still a firm believer in it. Lemon water, especially in the morning on an empty stomach, is great for your digestion. The lemon or lime squeezed into your water also adds many beneficial vitamins and minerals. I drink a glass of lemon water with a pinch of Himalayan Sea Salt every morning.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been proven to aid digestion. Gut health is a huge problem in today's world with all of the grains and processed foods being consumed. Apple cider vinegar is great to decrease bloating as well as aid in the digestion of your food. Drinking a tablespoon mixed with 8 to 12 ounces of water about 15 minutes or so before meals can help you optimize your digestion. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which can make it easier for the body to use glucose in the blood for energy and decrease insulin levels. There have been studies showing that acetic acid activates an enzyme that helps the body burn more fat. Personally, I mix a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in about 8 ounces of water every morning as soon as I wake up, and at night right before bed. I will also take this concoction when I know I am about to have a bigger meal.
I have found that these 4 healthy drink recipes have worked amazingly for myself and my clients. Like I said before, there are no magic solutions to your weight loss woes, but if you are looking to optimize your body composition and your health, these drinks should be included.
