5 Tips to shed a quick 5 lbs – Transformation Tuesday

The picture you see above was the first person I ever coached under the Unleash Your Potential Fitness banner. She was attempting to diet but could not necessarily stop from stressing about her lack of change and had times where she was snacking with unhealthy food. She was also trying to count calories but was getting anxious about having to count every meal every single day. When we spoke about her making her transformation, it was determined that we would stop counting calories because it was stressing her out (read more about the negative effects of stress here). Today for my blog I want to give you guys a preview of my “25 Tips for your Best Body” ebook. A lot of people don’t realize how simple shedding a quick few pounds could be if they just change a few things in their lifestyle. Here are 5 things you can do right away to make a quick positive change to your body:

Eat more vegetables

Eat fibrous vegetables to improve digestion and weight loss. Vegetables are high in fiber and important micro-nutrients, like magnesium. Magnesium is a micro-nutrient that many people are deficient in. It plays a part in hundreds of functions in the body, including body composition, stress reduction, and sleep quality (which all have positive effects on weight loss). Fiber also helps prevent blood sugar spikes. Eating vegetables will add bulk to your diet while reducing appetite.

Drink more water

Drinking water has too many health benefits to list. Drinking adequate amounts of water helps to prevent dehydration and flush toxins out of your body. Water intake is often named as one of the most underrated and overlooked parts of fat loss.  There is no set amount of water needed per day, but I would recommend to try to drink about a gallon of water a day.

Don’t drink your calories and watch for hidden calories

Many of the drinks that are consumed by people daily have hidden calories that are the main culprit in your fat loss issues. Do you add cream and sugar to your morning coffee? Do you drink orange juice with breakfast? Try and limit your liquid consumption to water, black coffee, and unsweetened teas. Also, watch out for salad dressings, condiments, nut butters, and snacks that have high calorie content and deceiving serving sizes. The day I actually weighed and found out the true serving sizes of my condiments, dressings, and nut butters was the last day I ever used them.

Watch your sugar intake

As stated above, water should be your main liquid when looking to transform your body. Sugary beverages will crush your fat-loss goals. The high calorie and sugar content will make you gain weight fast. Many people do not realize that one of the easiest and quickest ways for them to lose weight would be to start removing their sugary drinks and replacing them with water.

Move more

Long periods of extended sitting or lying will ruin your metabolism. It does not take much, just try and get up out of your seat and move around every 30-60 minutes. It may help to set an alarm, so you remember to get up and walk around a little.
